The editing is approaching!
I am currently finishing the selection of the footages that will largely make up the four episodes of the project. Thanks to Valérie Combard and my wonderful staff at INA, I have been able to view hundreds of hours of films shot during the Algerian War. Over the last few months we managed to find many unpublished pictures. Among these, the non-professional films surprised me most pleasantly. The 8, 9 or 16 mm. cameras were very popular at the time. People used to capture some events of their daily life on film. These bring us an amazing subjective and personal perspective of civilians and soldiers, from whatever side of the conflict. They will be one of the major visual elements of this exceptional documentary series that I have the great pleasure of directing for ARTE.
